Launch Day Emotions | Chris Hutchings

004 | Launch Day Emotions 🎒

Running your own business is an emotional rollercoaster.

But going public with it was a turbocharged emotional rollercoaster.

Yesterday was something I had been building up to for quite some time. If truth be told I had actually been kicking that particular can down the road for months.

Each day a different emotion would tick through my mind and go to war with my positive mindset. Impostor syndrome, fear, doubt, anger, melancholy and embarrassment to name a few have all contributed at one time or another to push the launch date back.

It happens to the best of us!

Once I signed up for #ship30for30, I committed to the launch date to coincide with the start date.

The impostor syndrome was buried, final bits of content added and the site tweaked within an inch of its life.

Launch day emotional timeline:

  • woke up excited πŸ›
  • nerves kicked in 😬
  • enjoyed writing my launch announcement post ✍🏼
  • scared/excited to hit publish πŸ“°
  • then nothing – no likes, no comments (note: I know this isn’t the reason for doing it but still, expectations got away from me a bit) πŸ™ˆ
  • depressed chat with the wife πŸ‘°πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ
  • stroll to get some fresh air πŸšΆπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ
  • a few likes trickled in πŸ˜€
  • some lovely and positive messages πŸ˜€
  • some blasts from the past that I’ve not spoken to in a long time πŸ˜€
  • even some leads πŸ˜€
  • lots more messages and likes πŸ˜€

And then it was over, I went to sleep a happy camper and sincerely wondered why I had been putting it off for so long.

With all this emotional stress I often have to remind myself why I’m doing this!

I’ll cover my why tomorrow.
