Why this idea is getting finished.
Last time I was pulling at a thread. I've decided there's something in it, and here's why. Watch the video, or read the full transcript underneath if you'd rather.

Last time I was pulling at a thread. I was asking whether there was something in this idea that was floating around up here or not. And I've decided there is, and let me tell you why.
The morning before I picked up my kids, I'd been listening to a podcast with a guy called Mark Pincus. He was the guy who founded Zynga. Do you remember Zynga? Maybe you do, maybe you don't. They had games like FarmVille. You must remember FarmVille.
Anyway, the whole way through that podcast I was thinking to myself, could I do that? Could I build a games company? It sounds really interesting. And knowing what I know now about marketing and about AI, could I?
So when I walked into my in-laws that afternoon, the seed was already there. So when I wasn't really watching my kids play, I started watching the game that they were playing.
And here's the honest bit, right. Ideas have never ever been my problem. I've had them coming out of my backside for years. But they all had one thing in common. They were all about money, or an opportunity to make lots of money, or potential to make lots of money. It was always about the money.
Not one of them was about anything that I actually really cared about. But this idea now. This one I care about, because it's about my girls.
And now my girls have become an unknowing research panel, answering my questions, looking at prototypes.
This is something that I have a different reason to build. This is something they might actually be proud of, and it's about them.
That's the difference. That is why this idea is getting finished.
So if you've got primary school-aged kids yourself, follow along.
